One of my book clubs used to go do this quite often and I always loved discussing the book vs. the movie and if we liked the movie. It added such a great element to book club and it was fun to hang out together! We used to go to the movie tavern near us and it was so fun to eat, drink and watch the movie together. Of course, a bookmark is not a great gift for your book club friends who only listen to books, or who exclusively use an e-reader! I will often take the free ones offered at my local, independent bookstore.

At one time I was in 3 book clubs at the same time and we met at vastly different locations. I think my favorite was my book club that met at a tea room every month or two. My book club has been a lifeline since I joined in 2015. It is where I’ve been able to make friends outside of my work. I love my industry friends, but I think it is important to have friends outside of your work as well. We usually have a white elephant exchange during our December meeting, which inspired this blog post about book club gift ideas. If so, this gift guide is for you — whether you are looking for gifts for your book club members, gift ideas for someone who is a book club lover (like me!) or a book club Christmas gift exchange!
So whether you’re looking for Christmas gifts for book club members or gifts for another time, these glasses should definitely be on your list. Definitely a more advanced suggestion of all the book club ideas but a fun challenge, I think! If your book club is hosted at someone’s house, have a themed treat or drink based on the book or a detail from the book! If you don’t meet at someone’s home, maybe see if you can pick your month’s location based on SOMETHING from the book. This is one of the book club ideas that I’ve done a lot of though we weren’t exclusively book to movie books.
But I think its OK to gift them if they are very clever and fun. Maybe some members left or just need some personalities in the group who will add a new dynamic! Talk about it as a group and see if you want to add a person or two or three.
Fill your monthly meetings with favorite books of your members for the year! Each month a member would pick one of their favorite books (that the majority of you haven’t read) and share it with the book club. Members can opt for just the online access, or can also sign up to receive the book and some related surprises in their box each month! The site also produces a podcast and a video chat about that month’s title.
